It's official--I'm a weblebrity

So, odds are good that if you are reading this, you also frequent my pal over at www.arklatexfashion.com (and if you don't you should).  She recently blogged about a website that we love...  www.postcardsfromyomomma.com (which is great, and you should also be checking).  The website is dedicated to funny email between moms and their kids, and it is hilarious...

Anyway, my mom's birthday was about a month ago and I got her the Postcards book....a few days ago she emailed me about the book.  I forwarded her email to the Postcard people...and they totally put it on the website!!  Which makes me a weblebrity....if you're interested in having me appear at your next birthday party, class reunion, or bar mitzvah, please submit all inquiries to my agent.

Check us out, our subject title is "Ready for 'Love, Mom' Part 2".

That's 'Queen Booty', to you...

Josie got a few new hooded towels for Christmas that she loves, so at the end of bathtime it is always a big deal for her to choose between using her Dora or Disney Princess towel.  Last night, the princess towel was the winner.  Kevin did her bath and when I brought in the towel I asked Josie who each princess was so she could show off the names she has been working to learn (as we're pretty sure this will be required knowledge to get into a quality preschool).  Things started so well...first, we had Snow White and then Cinderella.  The last princess is Sleeping Beauty and when we got to her, Josie excitedly proclaimed, "That's Princess Booty--just like me!".  So, by default, I am Queen Booty...and I expect to be addressed as such in all of our future encounters.

Josie and Mia have a play date

Josie and I had the distinct honor and privilege of hanging out with Mia today.  She came over around 11 and we watched Strawberry Shortcake (the height of entertainment around here these days) and ate lunch.  Then at 12:30 we went to Josie from Mother's Day Out.  Josie is almost exactly one year older than Josie, so it sure was cute when Josie told me she would help me carry Mia to the car.  After we got home, play time shenanigans ensued.  We attempted a nap time, but neither girl was very interested in that, so we played on.  Josie and Mia made many beautiful   drawings with sidewalk chalk and we went on a walk around the neighborhood....and then before I knew it, it was time for Mia to go home and play with her Mommy.  A fun day here at The Estate...

My kid is a baller...

So, here is my kid, playing basketball.  She looks so sweet and innocent.  But that is just a ploy...once on the court, and the whistle has blown she is a baller.  She has played four games so far this season, and her team remains undefeated.  Liv is a rebounding queen and has made multiple baskets in multiple games.  At the beginning of the season she was hesitant to fight the boys for a rebound (all of our other group sports were played with just girls), but now she gets in front of anyone to grab the ball.  So far, I like watching her play basketball better than soccer...the court is smaller so I get to see all of the action a littler better and with more scoring (on our team's part anyway) it is more exciting.

Your welcome, in advance, for me not having any potty pictures...

Well, I never thought we would get here knew it would happen eventually.  Josie loves the bathroom--bath time, washing hands, brushing teeth all of it.  She has had a her sized potty in the bathroom for what seems like forever, and likes the process of sitting on the potty, wiping and flushing.  Until now, there has just never been anything to wipe or flush.  She is very supportive and proud of me when I put my tee tee in the potty (every time, thank you very much!), but she is not grossed out at all by sitting in a dirty diaper.  Anyway, she started going to a Mother's Day Out program last October, and I suppose peer pressure finally broke her down.  Today at school, Josie went to the potty two times...coming home to me in the same dry diaper she left me in the morning.  Amazing.  For this feat, she was given 2 M&Ms by her teachers.  I've offfered the kid every award imaginable, so in the end I guess she wanted to see what all the fuss was about.  We called Daddy and Grandma to report the news.  I hope from here that Josie will want to keep it up. When I laid her down for a nap I told her I was going to get her potty candy ready, and she told me to have a lot for her so she could potty a lot.  Perfect plan!

Dear Winter, I hate you.

So, the same brutally cold weather that caused this, also caused my electric bill to more than double. Ugh.
