New Houseguest, No Camera Required

Josie is an early riser (much to my dismay), so her tiptoeing into my bedroom at 7 am announcing she is ready for breakfast is no surprise.  It was a surprise this morning when she announced that Blast was also hungry.  In my sleepy state, I thought she meant her Buzz Light Year action figure.  No.  She means Blast--her new imaginary friend.  As I was getting out of bed, Josie stopped me and told me that I might want to pick Blast up and carry him to the couch, so as to not step him.  He is a little fella.  When we got to the hallway the threat of being trampled to death had passed and Josie advised me that Blast could walk the rest of the way.  Also, Blast would like m & m's for breakfast.  When I asked what Blast looked like, Josie calmly explained that he has silly arms and a star on his belly.  Perfect.  She and Blast watched Team Umi Zoomi while I showered.  Later in the morning, I wanted to introduce Kevin to Blast, but Josie told me that Blast stepped out for a minute.  She explained that Blast had a lot of friends to visit, but that he would be right back.

Fantastic start to the morning.  Looks like I'll be setting an extra place at the table for dinner tonight....

My Camera is Busted...We Can't Have Nice Things

My camera was totally fine, then I charged the battery and now it won't come on at all.  Perfect.  This limits my pictures to things taken with Kevin's Iphone.  Great.  I've only had this camera for a year, so there really is no excuse for this and I don't want to spend any money to fix it or on another camera since I didn't do anything to break this one.  For now, my master plan is to do nothing and hope that the camera magically rights itself and I can carry on with my usual photo taking business.

Anyway, since I've last blogged things have been pretty usual for us.  Kevin pulled through his tonsillectomy with only a few brushes with death.  Actually, he did better than I thought--after Day 5, he took himself off all pain meds and has been fine since.  Olivia wrapped up second grade last Thursday (finally) and finished the year with A's in every class.  It's crazy to me that we just got out of school and Target is setting their back to school stuff out already.  But such is life for the year round student, I suppose.  Josie is currently obsessed with Toy Story so we regularly go to infinity and beyond with her.  I am good--love my job still and have taken over the ad campaigns for Austin, TX.  I really like being responsible for something and the people whose campaigns I manage think I am awesome.

Kevin and I will be celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary next week, and we'll go to Dallas next weekend for some adult celebration.  Everyone get your IKEA orders in now!

We are also trying to formulate a serious plan to finish up remodel work of our current Estate, so we can find a bigger one.  Exciting!  We have been finishing up some landscaping work outside, have a little stuff to do in the bathroom and Liv's room, and then the kitchen is last big project.  Hopefully, by next Spring we'll have this baby on the market....

Today's pics are things that Kevin has taken from his phone this weekend.  Liv hasn't been here, so they are all Josie....

Tonsillectomy

So, tomorrow at 6:30 am, Kevin and I will go the surgery center, and the same doctor who puts tubes in Josie's ears will remove Kevin's tonsils.

No one is particularly looking forward to this.  Kevin has been told a hundred times how horrible the pain will be, so he is focusing on the advantages of not having a sore throat all the time.

Anyway, if anyone has any awesome ideas for things to eat or ways to ease pain or tips for a speedy recovery....send them our way!!

Family Fun at the Blueberry Farm

I've known about the Hillcrest Blueberry Farm for a few years, but we've never been blueberry picking before.  Saturday we loaded up the family and headed about 25 minutes south of Shreveport.  The girls each got their own bucket to fill with 1.5 pounds of blueberries and we were off.  Of course it was hot, but tis the season.  We tromped all over those blueberry fields looking for the ripest, biggest blueberries we could find.  It didn't take long to fill our buckets--especially since Josie couldn't be bothered to stop for a potty break.  I don't even remember the last time Josie had an accident, but in the middle of our picking I looked over at Josie and caught her mid accident.  I asked her why she didn't wait until we get go to a potty, and she calmly said, "Because my bucket isn't full yet."  Luckily we changed clothes and went about our bucket filling business.  When we were done we went inside to cool of with blueberry lemonade.  The best part?  Our family fun activity only cost us the price of the berries--$10.  The other best part--the blueberry pancakes we made for breakfast this morning.  Today is Father's Day....hope all the dads have a great day!  Especially husband who does SO much to take care of us....Love you babe!!

Memorial Day Weekend

Photo credit to Dani for the 2 pics of Josie
Well, May was a  dismal blogging month for me--sorry about that faithful readers...both of you.  I will try to get better.  I've got a few things working against me....number one-that pesky job and number two-my camera card is full and until I get around to printing some of those pics, I am depending on the cameras of others.

Anyway,  this weekend was fun--fun with ladies and fun with the family!  Saturday morning Josie and I went to School Age Jack's tball game--in which he was clearly the star.  Followed that up with a pedicure to get ready for my girls night out.  The ladies and I dined at Cheesecake Bistro, saw SATC 2, and went out for cocktails after.  Sunday was spent with the family mostly around the house and we grilled for dinner.  Monday we went to Grandma's house in the morning to splash around in the water and ride bikes (these are the only pictures from others cameras that I'm missing to photo document the weekend, and I'll add them when I get them).  Then we met with friends at the park, and ended the night with a small family cookout.  Just some all American fun for the weekend...huge shout out to every soldier our country has ever had that enabled us to have a fun weekend!  This means you, Brother John!
